Layout Assignment #6 - Checker/Card Battle (Grids)

We had to learn how to do grids this week. Easy enough, but we had to do something vaguely Alice in Wonderland themed... Which kinda left me lost for ideas. Oh well. This turned out okay.

3D Tree Test

Just a test render for proof of concept for making a tree in Blender. Still need to learn how to do textures, but overall I'm happy with the way it turned out. Needs more trunk though. I made the poly count waaaaay too high on the earth though, not realizing that it wouldn't ever matter when it rendered out.

On another note, I just got a new mac, and my render time went from 4 hours to 4 minutes : )

Layout Assignment #5 - Feudal Japan Fortress (Three Point Perspective)

The Layout assignment for his week was three point perspective. Personally, I find three point perspective extremely cheesy for anything other than pan shots (excluding cartoony WB style animation) so I tried to make it a little more realistic and subtle. Kinda turned out okay. That window in the bottom right is way off though.

Character Design - Week 2

Second design week here, had to practice cleaning up the heads on these ones, something I'm not entirely familiar with. These were in the style of Sean "Cheeks" Galloway and Mike Henry / Ryan Hall (they both have a very similar style and work together, so I just studied them both). Fairly happy with how these ones turned out, I'm staring to enjoy the studying process a lot more as well as the product it produces.

Layout Assignment #4 - Ruined Temple (Two Point Perspective)

Had a little fun with this one, even though I still don't get water lighting. Was struggling with finding the perspective in the tight complex space, so I made it in 3D and moved the camera around till I found something I liked. You can see the original render in the reflection. However, ater doing that, I saw that if I had flipped the canvas upside-down, they're just stairs. Well, lesson learned.

Weekly Walks #3 - Old Man

Old man walking. Was getting into Bravest Warriors at this point, so I tried to do it in the style of Pendleton Ward.

Animation Assignment #15 - Laser ("Feature" FX)

This was my final FX animation assignment. The project was to make a "feature quality" effect, meaning cleaned up and coloured. I don't think I quite achieve the standard I define as feature quality, but hey, I did my best for the time given. I'm going to try and do more effects on my spare time.
